The goal of this getaway is to have enjoyable days of personal consultation with Louise Cutting and Sandy Miller from the Cutting Line Designs Pattern Collection. You’ll also experience the fashion and wardrobe-building trunk show. Each pattern in the CLD collection has its own unique features, and we'll talk about how to mix and match the patterns as well. That can lead to a coordinated, flattering, versatile wardrobe that makes the most of your time and budget. We only work with Cutting Line Designs patterns because we know them so well.
Receive the help you need to make the right pattern adjustments for good fit, along with the best sewing techniques. Use your “appointments” with Louise and Sandy to ask questions that reflect your own concerns with styling, matching fabric to pattern, fit, wardrobe building, sewing issues, and more. Everyone will be called forward to share in answers of interest to all, and Louise and Sandy will also give short presentations that everyone will benefit from.

FIT TO FLATTER
Bring all of your fitting concerns with you. Calicos/toile (muslins in America) , partly made garments, fabrics, Cutting Line Designs patterns. Even CLD garments you’ve already made! Let’s have fun and tackle fitting from all different angles.
Maybe you have a favourite design or pattern in a style you regularly like to make but find you have issues with it. Then bring it along made into a calico and some extra fabric and let’s tackle this together.
I would also like to show you Fitting some simple shapes such as a Top (like Light and Shadow, Just My Style, Simplify Your Life) or Shell (Passport to Style, Danger Curves Ahead, Putting It Together) and then turn this into a unique designer one-off piece.
I will bring along some of my own garments to demonstrate some of the ideas we can achieve. Adding to my expanding range of everyday tunics that I love to wear for work, travelling, shopping. My absolute go to, essential no. 1 wardrobe item 😊!
You will need your favourite Cutting Line Designs patterns, lots of spare calico (muslin or shirt weight cotton) and some gorgeous fabrics.

During the 3 days we will complete a range of essential techniques needed to create a professional finish for all of your clothes. Combined with a selection of signature details often referred to by top end high street labels.
A practical but fun workshop. Great for bringing individuality into your everyday life.
Techniques will include fabulous set in sleeves with a different . A selection of Zip placements. Taking Zip Envy to another level. Perfect collars and cuffs with contrasting bindings, double bindings, and piping. Raised darts. And just the best selection of featured, colourful pockets and buttonholes. All adding a unique statement to your handmade wardrobe.
Plus great ideas for fabric pattern placement, playful inserts, seam changes, and pattern matching.
Please bring along lots of fabric for co-ordinating, ideally cottons and linens. And a selection of your favourite Cutting Line Designs patterns with some basic shapes too. All ready for discussion.

Susan Khalje is a well-known preservationist and teacher of couture sewing techniques. She is a contributing editor of Threads Magazine and was the host of Sew Much More on HGTV for 6 years. She established The Couture Sewing School in the ‘90’s and has written extensively about sewing, including the authoritative book Linen and Cotton: Classic Sewing Techniques for Great Results.
Her sense of humor and delightful personality make it easy to learn from her. This will be a unique opportunity to learn classic techniques from an innovative teacher.
