FASHION YOUR NEW FALL

It's time to think about the cooler Fall temperatures ahead.  Yes, I hear you saying, "Wait!  It's still hot out there!"  And it is still hot in some parts of the country.

What to do----what to do????  Louise has the answer.  Make up a new garment in cotton dobby from Japan.  I know she has a few of these fabrics in her stash, and now that she is back from teaching in New York, I think she is eager to get started.  Here's the event where she was invited to teach:

         Threads Sewing Experience

The dobby is a fantastic transitional fabric, ideal for these conditions.  It's all cotton, so it's comfortable if your weather is still warm.  However, most of our dobby fabrics are in dark colors, so they look appropriate if your temps are already cooling.  They wash well and require little pressing.  What more could we want, right?

I'll show you a few garments I've made in dobby fabric.

I made View A of Take Me Anywhere, including the hidden button placket and the cool pocket.  It's a great shirt for Fall, and the dobby fabric gives it an extra punch.  (You know I like to add that "third piece"; here it's a scarf.)

I used a button and loop closure on my vest, but you can also use the tie closure.  Either way looks good.  I also made the kimono from the same pattern.  This versatile fabric works for shirts, vests, and light jackets.

Wear it free and easy without the sash, or if you want to be a bit more dressed up, add the sash.  (There's also a terrific obi in the pattern!)

So let's see some of these lovely fabrics.

It could be hard to choose just one.  (I have a few in my stash, and they'll be on the cutting table soon.)

PayPal logoBy the way, we've heard that a few of you have thought that you had to have a PayPal account to order from us online.  That's not the case.  Even though you'll see "Proceed to PayPal" on one of the order pages, just click on it to go to the next page.  You'll see that you can choose whatever credit card you would like to use.

Keep your eye on the Events page.  We're discussing what we'd like to do next year, so don't miss out.  We'll be posting new retreats soon.

Isn't It Fitting booklet   While she was in New York, Louise taught fitting adjustments from her new book, Isn't It Fitting.  One student commented, "This method makes so much sense!"  If you have fitting issues (doesn't everyone?), get this book and adjust your patterns to fit your unique body.
