Fabric Art from Japan at Cutting Line Designs

ART, NATURE, AND WHIMSY FROM JAPAN
Japanese artist

Travel in spirit to a land of beautiful mountains, seas, cherry blossoms, pagodas, and long-standing textile traditions.

Japan's centuries-old skills in pleating, resist, and stitched shibori patterns, as well as painting and silk screens,  have been known around the world.

Now we have in stock an array of cottons and linens from Japan that are modern versions of the Japanese aesthetic--and sense of humor.

These garments display Japanese fabrics we've stocked in the past.   They provide inspiration for what you can do with the fabrics we have now, so take a look, then decide which fabrics you'll use to create something memorable.

You might like to make something like this.  To make it easier, we'll put these patterns on sale until 8 p.m. Eastern on Monday, December 7.

Now, here's a variety of fabrics from Japan--for you!

This group is composed of soft, smooth shirtweight cottons.  You can see the brushstrokes on these first two fabrics.

Abstract shapes interspersed with leaves from nature.  And crossing over everything are tiny lines echoing the stitching of the famous Living Treasure of Japan whose quilts inspired these prints.

And a pop of bright color--

These two playful cottons are slightly heavier.  You can still make shirts, but also vests, tops, and shells.

These linen/cotton blends are fun--

These are lighter-weight linens in special prints, some taken from the paintings of a Japanese artist, and are wonderful for shirts, tops, shells, and unstructured vests.
