LINENS REMAIN AT 25% OFF
|
Since we're featuring cool, natural-fiber linens this week, I thought you might like to see my new shirt. I had fun making this version of The Blouse Perfected, playing around with the fabric choices and the contrast stitching. Here's a look:
Before I go further, I'll just remind you that we have 6 patterns and at least 100 linens on sale this week.
So back to my shirt. I loved this pink linen print, but I had only a small piece of it. I see expensive versions of this kind of shirt all over the internet, so I decided to try it out. Of course, white was a logical companion, so I just had to figure out what parts of the shirt I could squeeze out of the pink fabric I had.
Edgestitching was a puzzling issue. I thought black thread would work, but dark grey looked better. Then where to put it, and would it also work on the white fabric. I settled for grey on pink and white on white.
I also want to show you the sleeve finish. The instructions are in the pattern. The lower third of the underarm sleeve seam is a flat fell finish, and the hem is turned twice. This way, no raw or serged edges show. You can roll it up and still look sleek.
I hope you are inspired to try something new! In the meantime, I'll remind you of the 6 patterns currently on sale.
We have prints and solids in the colors of sun, sand, sky, leaves and flowers--just right for summer. Here's a sample, but remember that there are many more. You can see them all on the Linens page. And they're all on sale at 25% off.
These first options are handkerchief linens, so they're wonderful for lightweight shells, tops, shirts, even dresses.
