Another 100% cotton dobby from Japan. We love these fabrics. They are heavier than a shirting weight, but lighter than a jacket weight, so great for sping and fall, or for layering in winter. We appreciate these fabrics for the thicker threads woven into the smoother surface, lending an interesting texture and preventing excessive wrinkling. You've probably seen that typical Japanese motif of ocean waves used in painting, quilting, and sashiko. Here, dark grey waves crash on a black background--even their bubbles appear in dark grey. Then light grey waves and bubbles light up the print as though they are reflecting the light of the moon. It's a charming print, and would make wonderful shirts that could also double as light jackets, shells, tops, vests, and dresses.
