You may be familiar with motifs used in Japanese sashiko stitching. Two of them, the ocean wave, and the knotted ribbons appear in this cotton dobby. The thicker threads woven into this light/medium weight cotton give a bit of surface texture, while the motifs are designed to be large and bold. They are printed in a warm red, blue-grey, black, and light blue and are outlined in beige. Cut carefully to feature the knotted ribbons, for instance, on the back of a shirt, or just cut the print up and let the shapes be abstract. Make shirts that could double as summer jackets over a shell, or tops, tunics, or vests.
