Although this is a smooth, lightweight shirting cotton from Japan, its appearance is a bit deceptive.  Royal blue lines printed both lengthwise and crosswise on the black background make it look as though it's been woven with thicker blue threads.  It's a nice effect without making the fabric heavier.  So it's the perfect weight for summer shirts, shells, tops, and tunics.  It would be subtle with black, or it would really pop over white pants or jeans--among many combinations.
