The overall background of this cotton dobby from Japan is black, but most of that background is covered with blocks containing various patterns.  There's a purple plaid block, a green block that looks like a maze, a purple block with circles, a purple block with a pattern like stitching, and a couple of purple floral blocks.  Most of the patterns are outlined in off-white.  The dobby weave's thicker threads minimize wrinkling on this light/midweight cotton, so it's a practical as well as an attractive choice.  Make tops, tunics, shells, dresses, or shirts to wear alone or layer over shells.
